Although money contributed to The Education Plan will be invested in portfolios that invest in underlying mutual funds from OppenheimerFunds, Fidelity, Baron and MainStay. The Education Plan is not a mutual fund. The state of New Mexico has created a trust specifically for the purpose of offering 529 college savings plans, including The Education Plan. An investment in The Education Plan is an investment in municipal fund securities that are issued and offered by the trust.
